Amanda Bossard was just out of high school when she started her studies in marine biology at Alaska Pacific University in Anchorage. Bossard launched her profession as a commercial fish worker in 1999. She started working on the F/V Sunset a 65' halibut-schooner and was later converted into a tender for salmon for Murat Aritan who worked as a commercial fisherman since 1993. Bossard has been engaged to Aritan and the couple has joined together to assert their claims to the industry. They both believe in saving and profiting from natural resources that are used in the industry of seafood. In 2007, now a mother of two young children Bella aged 3 as well as Andre 1 Bossard and then relocating back to live in Philadelphia, opened a direct market wholesale distributor of seafood named Otolith. The husband of the business has a lengthy career in the fishing industry that often means they stay separated from each other for five months or more. It is during this time that they're focused on their environmental and financial goals.
